![]() FMC103 Cinematography I: Illusions of Light with Cinematographer Daron Keet: If you're a person who can visualize great ideas in your minds eye, but lack the technical know how to transfer those images to film or video, this introductory class is for you!
**Through active participation and experimentation, students develop the fundamental crafts of professional cinematography. Familiarization and understanding the practical application of controlling various qualities of light is stressed. Students will gain a complete understanding of lighting equipment, including light meters, and what it means to be a gaffer, electrician or grip. **This practical workshop illustrates principles that involve the ability to create different cinematic lighting environments as it applies to various budgetary motion picture limitations. Course work includes color filtration and temperature, lighting techniques, spot lights and soft lights, eye lights and special dramatic effects are among topics discussed. **Composition for cinema, standard NTSE, and HDTV as it relates to story and market place is emphasized. Film stocks, sensitivity, the negative, filters and lenses are also covered. Topics are illustrated with examples from video clips and illustrations.
