In the trenches on an unbelievable location, with your hands on all the gear, you'll learn by doing. You will gain knowledge of exactly what you are required to experience and go through in order to make your own movie. You will also learn precisely what you need to know to walk onto a set anywhere in the world and direct, produce or work as a member of the crew in the most important positions. Best of all you will have an extraordinary experience that will change your life forever, truly a once in a lifetime opportunity! Don't miss it! Shoot Camp USA is a full 8 days of filmmaking where you produce, direct, and edit and become the crew of a live action short feature film! With all the bells and whistles, you get a full filmmaking experience with the greatest emphasis on directing. THE
EXPERIENCE While you're working with real Hollywood actors (members of the Screen Actors Guild), you'll be guided by an experienced team of working industry professionals, on hand, to advise, suggest, instruct, encourage, inspire, challenge and mentor. FMC has developed this opportunity specifically so you can participate in making a movie without incurring the full cost on your own. You will build relationships with the team, talent and industry vendors, which will carry on long after the Shoot Camp experience. THE SCRIPT Producers and Directors are anxious to find scripts to attach themselves to, because it's only when they have a script that they can get to work. You won't need to engage in a script feeding-frenzy or have to write a script on day one before lunch. Our hot property "Hollywood style" movie screenplays are selected through our Screenwriter Extreme project.
Past movie scripts have included costumed period pieces and special effects with fantastic big movie locations like the RMS Queen Mary, the grandest ocean line ever built, and the S.S. Lane Victory, a fully operational WWII victory ship. PRODUCING Examine and break down the script while performing the key rolls and responsibilities of the working producer which include production, logistics, budgeting, scheduling, casting, post production, promotion and distribution. You'll fully understand the old screenland expression "time is money". DIRECTING You will have a sequence in the script that are yours alone to direct. You'll experience how to choose the right lens, building your shot lists, blocking the camera and cast, and find performances. Each directing student will have an equal sequence in the script that is theirs alone to direct. You will break down the script for direction, creating lists, notating the beats, discovering the sub-texts. When your scenes come up on the schedule, your decisions and your inspirations will determine what shots are made and which performances are selected for editing. CREW A full professional crew is on hand to guide you while you rotate through the various crew positions and production departments.
This way you're not only going to learn every basic set function, but you'll get an insight into how each member of the crew contributes to the success of the film. POST PRODUCTION Shape the final edit, and make delivery deadlines. When you are not on set you'll be working with your editor, looking and logging and preparing your sequence. Once the location production is wrapped, the team moves into the final stages of postproduction. Locking down the picture cut, making choices on scored music and sound effects, and as the clock ticks down, approving a final mix. DEMO REEL and SCREENINGS
