about the Shoot Camp USA experience with Shoot Camp USA Director

My husband (Russell) and I attended Shoot Camp together and REALLY
learned a lot, even though he's been on the acting side of the business
for 30+ years.
We participated in everything -- we're in our fifties and I started out
the week with a pain in my sciatic nerve and couldn't stand, so I started
out working with Rayelle on the production side (which is really what
I'll be doing when we make our own film). Once I was feeling better, we
each directed, script supervised, worked with lighting, camera, sound,
special effects, editing, etc. You will participate in every aspect of
filmmaking.
It was a FULL and exhausting week. Even though we live in the L.A. area,
rather than drive 1 1/2 hours, after working from 7 in the morning until
1 the next morning, we crashed at a nearby hotel three of the late nights.
There is a lot of heavy manual labor because we are also the "crew"
and have to carry lights, equipment, and props when rotating jobs. But
if two 50 year olds can do it, anybody can.
Our group had two 18 year olds, a doctor, a lawyer, a dentist from Puerto
Rico, an animal crematorium director, a 25 year old from Singapore, a
guy from Germany--we loved them all and still keep in touch.
The SAG cast was awesome and I expect some to become stars in the future.
We adore Rayelle and Eric and will be lifelong friends...they are professional,
energetic and organized and the hardest working people I've ever known --
and fun too!
My husband and I consider it one of the best times we've had together. It
was money well invested. It was a great tax write off. We have a film now
with our names on it. It was an outstanding learning experience that gave
us knowledge and confidence that we CAN DO IT. I highly recommend Shoot
Camp for both personal and professional growth.
