Back
in 1976, one year before the world would discover Star Wars,
a classic Science Fiction film was released. It was called:
Logan's Run.
The
movie, directed by Michael Anderson, and starring Michael York,
Jenny Agutter, Richard Jordan and Peter Ustinov, takes place
sometime in the 23rd Century...
The survivors of war, overpopulation and pollution are living
in a great domed city, sealed away from the forgotten world
outside. Here, in an ecologically balanced world, mankind only
lives for pleasure, freed by the servo-mechanisms which provide
everything. There's just one catch.
Life
must end at thirty,
unless reborn in the fiery ritual of carrousel.
Okay Logan Runners, beware the Sandman
and
their blasters as we go in search of the Domed City of Logan's
Run.
Our
first stop is The Great State of Texas at the Dallas Market
Center Apparel Mart. (this was the main section of Arcade, outside
Carousel, the great hall and the plaza with the hand)
Our
next destination is The Oz Restaurant/Nightclub in Dallas located
at 5818 LBJ FRW, Dallas, TX 75240 It's was the backdrop
for the "The Love Shop."
Now
really keep your guard up! Zales International Headquarters,
now owned by Mobil oil and completely refurbished was Sandman
Headquarters and is located at 901c West Walnut Hill Lane, Irving,
TX 75038-1003
If
you have an ANKH don't go flashing it here at the the
Burton Park building.
This building (8700 Stemmons Frwy in Dallas) was used to depict
living quarters.
You never know when or where a Sandman might appear.
Fort
Worth Water Gardens was used as the Wave Power Inlet seen toward
the end of the movie.
Some
of various outdoor locations, AKA "Sanctuary" was
really the old
Fox Ranch – Mailbu Creek State Park in California.
The
Sanctuary HQ and steam tunnel/undersea complex/power center
is really the Playa Del Rey, Hyperion Sewage Disposal.
Haven't
been terminated yet? All this running building up your appetite?
