Making
Movie Money
It's a Hollywood Tradition!
By Maurice Voltkofsky
Over the years, every major movie studio has printed, purchased,
or rented "funny" money. To keep it all legal like,
they, the Property department men and women, usually print "made
for movies", "can't pass me", or "for
Motion Picture Use Only" somewhere on the note.

MAKE
YOUR OWN MOVIE MOOLA!
With
scanning technology, Photoshop, and a little practice, you
too could be printing your own non-legal tender in no time.
To keep the G-mans off your back and you out of trouble
make sure your bills are clearly marked " Motion Picture
Use Only".

You
don't need to make a lot of bills. It's all in
the pre-production planning. Color printing cost can really
add up so plan wisely. Figure out what the camera's
going to see. Most of the time when creating the illusion
of money stacks, the only printed bills are on the top and
bottom. The middle or inner sheets of the movie money is cut
up strips of phone book paper. Don't print your money
props at Kinkos, it's not a good idea. It's also
unwise to use you new non - legal tender at the craps table
in Vegas.
Until
next time, happy filmmaking.
